1.Who Can Delete an Account

Only the account owner can request deletion, and the request must be made from within the account while signed in. A Garage Sale account covers both buying and selling activity, so deleting your account removes both your buyer and your seller access. It is not possible to delete only one part of your account.

We do not accept deletion requests made on behalf of another person, and we do not delete accounts based on requests sent from an email address that does not match the account.

2.How to Delete Your Account

You can request deletion from inside the GarageSale app:

Profile → Edit Profile → Delete Account

You will be asked to confirm your identity and confirm the request before it is accepted. Once confirmed, your account enters the recovery period described in Section 3.

Deletion is never blocked by your existing activity. You do not need to end your sales or cancel reservations first — the system handles all of this for you when you confirm the request.

If you no longer have the app installed or are unable to sign in, see "Request Account Deletion Without the App" above.

3.The 30-Day Recovery Period

Your account is not deleted immediately. When you confirm a deletion request, your account is deactivated and held for 30 days.

During the recovery period:

• You are signed out and cannot use the account
• Your profile stops appearing anywhere in the app
• Other users can no longer find you, view your profile, or message you
• Your hosted sales are paused and removed from search, maps, and browsing
• Chat threads are closed and no new messages can be sent or received
• All notifications and emails from Garage Sale stop

To recover your account, sign in at any point during the 30 days. What comes back and what does not is explained in Section 4.

At the end of 30 days, deletion runs automatically and cannot be reversed.

4.Recovering Your Account

Signing in within the 30 days stops the deletion, but your account does not return exactly as you left it.

Restored:

• Your profile and profile information
• Your followers and the accounts you follow
• Your eligible historical content

Not automatically restored:

• Your hosted sales do not go live again. They return under Your Hosted Sales marked Paused. You will need to review each one and resume it yourself, or edit it first.
• Sales whose schedule has fully passed during the recovery period return marked Ended. You can edit the sale and set a new schedule to run it again.
• Sales with no fixed schedule can be resumed without setting new dates.
• Cancelled reservations are gone permanently. Reservations cancelled when you requested deletion — both ones you made and ones buyers made on your sales — are not restored under any circumstances.

5.What Happens Immediately

As soon as your deletion request is confirmed, the following take effect without waiting for the recovery period to end:

• You are signed out of the app on all devices
• Your public profile becomes unavailable
• Your hosted sales are paused and removed from search, maps, feeds, category listings, nearby sales, and shared sale links
• Reservations buyers made on your sales are cancelled, and those buyers are notified
• Reserved items on your sales return to available status
• Reservations you made as a buyer on other sales are cancelled, and those hosts are notified
• Your sales are removed from any route another user has planned
• Your sales become disabled in other users' saved sales lists
• Existing chat threads are closed for both sides
• Push notifications and email communications stop

6.What Is Permanently Deleted

Once the 30-day recovery period ends, the following are permanently removed and cannot be recovered by you or by us:

• Your name, profile photo, bio, and contact details
• Your saved addresses and location history
• Photos and descriptions you uploaded to your sale listings
• Your saved sales and browsing history
• Your network connections and follow relationships
• The content of your chat messages
• Your sign-in credentials and any linked social sign-in connections
• Device identifiers and push notification tokens

All hosted sales held during the recovery period are permanently deleted at this point.

7.This Cannot Be Undone

After the 30-day recovery period ends, deletion is final. We are not able to restore your account, your listings, your photos, your messages, or your history, even if you ask us to.

If you want to use GarageSale again after deletion, you will need to create a new account. You may sign up again using the same email address or phone number, but the new account starts fresh — no listings, no history, no connections, and no previous activity carried over.
